Illustrate the Classics: A Guide for Parents
Help your child improve their reading comprehension by illustrating works of classic literature!
This guide instructs parents and teachers on how illustrating passages from works of fiction improves a child's literacy.
The guide provides instructions for how your child or student should go about illustrating passages from works of fiction.
The guide also provides 10 passages from 10 different works of fiction for your child or student to illustrate. The passages are from Peter Pan, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Heidi, The Little House on the Prairie, The Secret Garden, Treasure Island, A Christmas Carol, The Wind in the Willows, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Beowulf.
The passages are targeted to ages 7-12, but the activity can be implemented with any age, so long as they are proficient readers. With that said, the passages can be read aloud to a child who is learning to read or who struggles to read.
